Cois Fharraige (Connemara South) stretches along Galway Bay from the Southern mouth of the Connemara Gaeltacht to Ros a Mhíl village and port. This 20 mile stretch is unique in many ways. From the stunning views across the Bay to County Clare, to the small rivers dissecting the main road flowing from sunken lakes in the bog. At Furbo onwards the Aran Islands are visible while Connemara stone walls map the fields passed on by generations. The stone walls become even more prevalent in the areas of Minne and Bantrac. Cois Fharraige also holds two very important conduits of transport. The Port at Ros a Mhíl and the Connemara Airport are main hubs of transportation for the Aran Islanders and the West Coast. The rugged landscape of Connemara South is as stunning on a sun soaked day as it is on a day when the Atlantic winds roll wave after wave against the coastline. The sea itself is as mesmerising as desert sands or an open fire and its façade changes on a daily basis sometimes dotted with Pods of seal, just as inquisitive as the onlooker. But the most important and unique traits of this region are the Community spirit of the people and the spoken Irish language, in my opinion, there is nothing, nothing more unique or beautiful .......
